We drove in our Jeep Cherokee and our Honda Oddesy, We stopped at the Family Arena, then rode on due north along the Missouri River to the little Bike Cafe, we know in old town St. Charles Missouri. The air was cool, the sun was bright, My app might have calculated the time based off of speed and distance because it was more than 13 min.!
The Family Arena
We had seen Holiday Lights at this arena where they often have a snow machine that blows snow into your car. We had also seen the circus here so my son recalled the location after some discussion.
We made it out to the chat of the Katy Trail that connects so many of the trails in and around St. Louis, MO. I was riding with my father and my son which made today’s ride all the more special.
Video Evidance of the Ride!
This video spans the whole trip.

Bike Stop Cafe
We stopped in to the Bike Stop Cafe in old town St. Charles, MO.
It was rad as always.
I don’t normally drink alchohol, but I had been riding a bike for a long time and felt it was a good choice. When we started getting Yuengling beer imported to St. Louis was a bout the time I stopped drinking. So We have had it for about a year and I had yet to have one. It was a decent Lager, It reminds me of road trips in the Smokey Mountains. But it is a simple Lager so it also reminds me of Thailand…
Hello, this is improvement Dave, and I am David Kolmer. I used and continue to use the WordPress platform to build this blog. There was a prompt on my WordPress dashboard of an idea for a blog post which was “Describe your best week “, or maybe “Describe your perfect week”… something like that. I didn’t click on it, but then realized last night that I had started one of the best days ever.
At any rate, I am going to use this prompt even though I didn’t click on it and submit it to the WordPress Metaverse officially. I will alter it a bit and narrow the scope to 24 hours.
Exposition to the Perfect Day
My perfect day involves me :
Supporting my kids
Supporting my wife
Supporting myself
Initially, in that order of importance.
I had a promise to myself that I wasn’t going to purchase myself a new bicycle for my September biking challenge until I purchased a new bike for my wife. My wife has gone through a few bikes, and they were all gifts or someone else’s bike, and none of them fit her. She’s not an avid biker, but I can tell that our lives would be better if we all had decent bikes.
Wait, What About the Kids?
I should state that I have purchased two balance bikes for my kids since before they could walk. These are bikes that do not have pedals so they can get used to riding without worrying about pedals. Let me see if I can dig up a retro photo…
Look at that handsome dude rocking that balance bike! Proud as a pig in mud!
So, when the kids did get pedals they learned to ride in about 24 to 48 hours. If that doesn’t sell you on a balance bike then you hate children!
Last month, I bought my son a brand-new bicycle. It was a trek pre-caliber at the TREK store. It was what he wanted for his birthday. He shared that his perspective is that I always get him something secondhand and that Grandma and Grandpa put down real money for the big ticket items. (Well, this is my extrapolation. What was said is that my mom bought me a Game Gear portable Sega gaming system for $130+, and he stated, “You never bought me something that expensive.”) So when the grandparents offered to buy this bike I said, “I am buying this one.”
The TREK storeon Manchester Road was very well-equipped and very clean. The service charges for tune-ups and the price for components seemed expensive. Or at least they cost more money than I want to pay. Anyway, purchasing my son a new bike provided my daughter with a very nice silver hand-me-down bike.
We bought her a Unicorn bell that she got at my son’s birthday party to make it more of a “her” bike…
She also got some nice flashing lights.
She wasn’t getting the hang of the pedals so I hooked up the Co-pilot by Wee-Ride and she felt better about pedaling. Just watch her RAWK that for the first time.
SO BOOM MY KIDS ARE TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE SUPPORTED THEM IN THE MISSION OF HAVING QUALITY BIKES.
A Moment of Weakness
While I was at the TREK store shopping for my son’s bike, I noticed the Marlin. Now this is a bike that I have read about, and I know that the marlin is a quality bike at a good price. However, I also discovered that Roscoe, which is a higher-level mountain bike with a Hardtail, costs significantly more money. I ordered one of those in the view and then the TREK store never called me back. Exit Trek store stage left.
I ALREADY DISCUSSED BUYING A NEW BIKE WITH MY WIFE FOR MY BIRTHDAY AND WE HAD AGREED THAT THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA HOWEVER, SOMETHING DIDN’T FEEL RIGHT ABOUT IT. LATER, I REALIZED THAT I SHOULD BE GETTING HER A BIKE FIRST. OK SO THAT’S ALL OF THE PRE-LOG OR EPILOGUE AND NOW WE’RE GONNA GET INTO THE PERFECT 24-HOUR PERIOD WHICH I STARTED LAST NIGHT.
The Perfect Day Started Last Night
Last night I drove with my whole family to pick up some sandwiches at Potbelly. We had some gift cards, so essentially, I paid no money for them, which is pretty awesome. We eat the sandwiches in the car, which is something my family loves to do because it’s somehow wrong but then so right.
We drove to Billy Goat Bicycle Co.down on Manchester Road in St. Louis Missouri. This bike Shop had been recommended by one of my daughter’s friends’ fathers at my son’s birthday party as the most awesome bike shop in St. Louis to go to. I guess it pretty much qualified as that because when I walked in, they had the marlin eight that I was interested in in the dark blue to dark gray fade in my size. They also had a Marline that was very small, which also had incredibly nice coloring from more of a blue to yellow fade which fit my wife perfectly. We did some test drives in the front parking lot. I was wearing sandals, but I didn’t let that hold me back from curving and carving some banks covered with grass on the apartment complex behind the bike shop.
After some amazing discussions with a man called Ben, who was wearing a T-shirt that had bandit from the show, Bluey and the word “DAD” on it, I found I had learned a lot about bikes, gotten some very quality advice on the downfalls or potential pitfalls of tubeless tires, and essentially purchased my wife’s bike moments before I purchased my bike.
Hers
His
So now we both have brand new bikes, and we can fulfill our destiny of taking family bike rides together. Now, that was just yesterday evening.
As I’m writing this, it is only 5:30 a.m. It is raining outside, and I have a window open. Rain is a big part of the perfect day for me.
So far, I have woken up at 4:30 and finessed the water I had in the 32-ounce mason jar next to my bed. I brewed a cup of coffee while I was filling the jacuzzi hot tub in the new basement bathroom with hot water and Epson salts. I noticed that all these push-ups and all these bike rides have made my body very stiff, and my muscles seem to be filled with lactic acid and they’re sticking themselves. Now after exiting the hot tub and dictating this blog post into my phone in the basement to play some of my favorite video games on the PlayStation 3 which I never give myself time to do. It is called PixelJunk shooter, and it is the best game ever in the history of everything.
After that, I plan to do 30 minutes of yoga. After that, I will help put my daughter in the car and give her a Dum Dum sucker and kiss her goodbye kiss my wife goodbye. Then I’ll hang out with my son for about 30 minutes, and brew some more coffee. He’ll probably watch some Minecraft on YouTube kids, that is, he will watch someone else play Minecraft, instead of playing a game himself, (which is normal these days), I think.
While driving to school I saw they were tearing down that old house on our street that was an eyesore!
Then I will go to work in my basement. I recently put together a spare bedroom with an egress window that doubles as a study and a bathroom in the basement and this is my home office.
Today I have finished adding audio to the four modules of EPEC BRONZE for the National Association of Electric Distributors. Next, I will look at the script and enter all of the new script into the notes section of the Articulate Storyline file. This way I can easily print out a user guide PDF because the screens will be updated, and the notes will match. I’ve already aligned all the screen animations with the audio, so the last step is going to be pretty easy. I plan to break my fast at 12 but will probably wait until 2 or 3 because I drank whey protein powder last night at 8 p.m.
Tonight’s Plans
This evening I will pick up my son from school, then pick up my daughter and we will ride home in the Honda Odyssey. Then I will pull some fresh vegetables out of the fridge and some eggs and stir fry that all up in the Thai style I’ll probably fry some tofu as well and heat some of those smoked ribs that I have in the air fryer. Then I will drive to the YMCA with my son, or he will take a level five swimming course while my wife and my daughter ride bikes after that I will ride home in the Honda Odyssey with my son where he and I will probably ride bikes, then we will probably eat some ice cream. (Well, I might not have any ice cream because I am back on my ketogenic and intermittent fasting diet.) The kids will take a bath and we will take our showers. We will read some dog man turn on some colored, moving lights and the kids will go to bed. Now on some days, I would turn on some TV but for the perfect day, I would choose to not do that, instead, I would go to bed early at around 9 PM after drinking some chamomile and mint tea or some decaf coffee.
That will take us to about a full 24-hour period for the perfect day. What was interesting to me is my perfect day started last night and I’m not even halfway through it, It is not yet written, but maybe that’s the most important part of my perfect day. Much of the day is still in the future. It is unwritten, it has potential.
Conclusion
You know what? On second thought I don’t think I’m going to play that video game after writing this post I feel like it’s time to do my first 25 push-ups (of 50) do some yoga and Brew, and some more coffee.
The Best Day Ever
After I wrote the above content, I did some YOGA, My daughter woke up and then we walked outside in the twilight and enjoyed the rain.
We went back inside, I made her some hot chocolate and made a pinky promise that I would do some My Little Pony Cosmic Kids Yoga with her, but we did 15 minutes of the Frozen Yoga by Cosmic Kids featuring none other than Queen Elsa of Arendale.
My daughter said,
“This is the best day ever.”
She says that a lot, and she is always right.

Yesterday I mentioned in my blog that as I am creating videos to post on my Vlog of my doing my 50 pushups a day for St. Jude, my camera on my phone keeps crashing or shutting down. Sometimes this happens when an alarm goes off, but other times I’m not sure if it crashed or if I failed to hit record.
Last night I went to bed asking myself, “How can I solve this issue without buying a stand-alone camera or a new phone that I only use for making these videos?” … I really like how my phone connects with iCloud and then later the videos are just on my computer or easily available for download on the cloud web page. (That reminds me I need to delete all that raw video that I have processed and posted on YouTube.com)
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind
I have spoken about this book before and I will speak about it again.
The method of this book is asking yourself a question a few times before you go to bed. Then, have a good long night’s sleep, (or not, I mean that is not as good but you do you.) […On the side, hey you should really prioritize your sleep. No, seriously, sleep cures stress and stress kills you.] While you sleep your subconscious mind works through the details and provides you with the best possible solution or solutions based on what you know and remember. Really you are tapping deep into your subconscious, so you really are using the power of things you don’t know that you know. The book gets even deeper still and basically labels this as an unlimited resource not dissimilar from getting messages from “The God”. Honestly, if you adhere to the research and proof of the Collective-Subconscious then this really isn’t that far-fetched.
Ask yourself a question a few times before you go to bed. Ask your subconscious to solve the problem. You will have solutions when you wake up.
So, when I woke up I was staggering around my bathroom in the dark. I hadn’t had any coffee yet and I was going to brew a cup. Then I realized I had an idea. When I record I could simply put the phone in airplane mode. That would disable all the phone calls, text messages, and alerts. I am not completely convinced it will disable the alarms set, (which really do cause the biggest problem), but there is only one way to try it out and that is to test it. Today was Saturday so Science failed for today… HA! but Monday isn’t that far away.
Also, I could not do my fucking pushups when it is time to take my son to school … …so there is that. [Com’on Improvement Dave. Get it together… Seriously! Improve, make a better plan…that’s like your thing. When it is time to take your kid to school don’t do pushups and record them with your phone, and post them to YouTube.com]
So, there you have it. It is not complicated, but it works every time if you take it seriously. Right before you sleep ask yourself the same question over and over. Meditate on what it is and what you know about it. Then fall asleep.
I am doing 50 pushups a day for August 2023. My goal is to do 50 pushups every day for the month of August 2023. My stretch goal is to do 50 quality pushups in a single set. Today I did two higher-quality sets of 25 pushups, for only 50 quality pushups in total! I think this is the best approach overall to do an actual set of 50 by the end of August.
I did a 5-minute breath work session between the two sets, which is available to view after the two sets of pushups. In this video, I do the basic 4-count in, 4-count hold, and 4-count exhale. Then when that feels comfortable I up it to 8-counts for all three. Normally I would do a 4 or 8-count hold after the exhale but having just done pushups and preparing to do more pushups I do not tend to hold on the exhale.
I have a new process where I publish my video to YoutTube.com and then wait for that amazing platform to generate a transcript. Then I copy that transcript, run it through another amazing platform called Grammarly, respell my name from Calmer or Cohlmer to Kolmer, and then paste the transcript to my blog post. (Wouldn’t it be cool if my last name was “Calmer”. Not sure I could live up to that…) You can toggle the transcript on this video or read below while the video plays, or just read below because that is probably the fastest.
Please help me reach my goal
I’m Doing more than 1,550 Pushups for St. Jude – Please donate to my fundraiser!
this is Improvement Dave I’m David Kolmer thanks so much for tuning in you might notice that I have better things to say or I even say them better after the breath work and that might inspire you to give it a shot and it’s not rocket science you sit down you take some deep breaths if you have a thought you say oh I have a thought and then let it go down the river send it off it goes down the stream no serious meditator is going to never have had the thought that I can’t meditate I don’t know what I’m doing there’s a lot of stigma around it right but it’s a lot easier than we think it’s just about taking some deep breaths and being present and if you have the thought you let it go down the flow just don’t hold on to the thought and it’s that action or actually you could say that inaction that empowers you then to accept what’s happening react to it honestly and find a nice calm passive way to work with it I had been cutting back on carbs and then when I started these push-ups I added the carbs back in so I’ve been eating sugar and waffles and whatever I want before I do the push-ups and I really haven’t seen much better performance in the push-ups but I have seen some weight gain so I’m going to go back to more of the intermittent fasting not I haven’t eaten anything today except for a coffee I did add some cream into the coffee but that probably didn’t raise my glycemic index very much so I’m not that worried about the cream but if I really want to increase the weight loss I’ll probably cut that cream back out and then for the rest of the day I’m just going to eat fruits and vegetables high protein high fat I obviously will have some sugar some carbs at some point but really going to minimize that whenever possible also the microphone so I have a new microphone I couldn’t really tell the difference I put on my fancy headphones last night and it tasted I mean tasted tasted it when I put the microphone in my mouth it tasted the same the sound actually tastes sounded the sound actually was the same so I took the wind guard off the mic and I’m hoping that’s going to make a difference if it doesn’t I mean maybe I was just really excited um and expected more or maybe the microphone on my phone is just already really good either way I’m going to keep using the mic because it just makes sense I have the mic it plugs in um I should do a simple test to see if it’s actually working I think I’m going to do that on one of these recordings tap the phone and then tap the mic and make sure that it’s working anyway I’m here to do some push-ups so let’s go ahead and do the first 25 push-ups
Here we go, Oh another thing things I did some research on push-ups and I learned that I’m breathing wrong so I’ve been exhaling as I go down and then inhaling as I come up that’s actually backward it was easier for me to kind of say the number was I went down but apparently that’s wrong so I’m going to make an effort to save the number as I raise back up so I’m doing the exhale as I go up also I don’t know if I was doing this wrong but keeping the hands kind of closer to the body so what I’m on day 23 24 and I’m only now researching how to do push-ups laughs
but you know never stop improving right that’s how that’s my thing so I just wanted to share that wait maybe I’ve been doing this wrong okay is that one so breathe in as I go down what I think I have my hands in the right place there
1 2 This is pretty good isn’t it Three [Music]
Four I think it’s kind of like being up here and holding my breath and I could probably still do that [Music] but is that still a full sets
[Music]
[Music] soon
I’m living [Music] it is more difficult for me pretty soon as I go down [Music]
Wow, so I definitely had some thoughts racing through my head while I was doing that. Honestly, this is where I am today I’m trying to do quality push-ups I definitely started doing much less quality. Right those first couple days weren’t push-ups those were me trying to do push-ups I felt like that was 25 solid push-ups and I had this goal where I wanted to do 50 push-ups in a set and I ran that through the AI when I was riding on my blog and the blog hey I have said well you should maybe share the significance why is doing 50 push-ups so significant to you and I thought about it and then I didn’t really have anything to write… and then it also said share the significance of why you’re doing breath work I had plenty to say around that because it’s obvious. Why do I have this arbitrary goal of doing 50 push-ups in one set when the actual goal is just 50 push-ups a day? Well, it’s I guess it’s more of a long-term goal and maybe I won’t make that by the end of August and that’s fine. What I am going to do is do 50 push-ups a day every day in August. That’s definitely gonna happen unless I have something you know maybe it would be something you know something happens. there’s a word I’m fishing for that I can’t find it less anything significant negatively happens it’s gonna try to say it was a more eloquent way to say that I think I’m gonna hit that goal but if I don’t hit the goal of hitting 50 push-ups every I mean 50 push-ups in a single set but what I would consider quality push-ups that’s okay that was a stretchful so just wanted to share those thoughts it was kind of discombobulated I haven’t eaten yet today and maybe that’s why but I can speak further on that you know I I last month I consistently didn’t eat any sugar in fact I would say this year I have consistently not eaten any raw sugar the past five months I have consistently not eaten any carbohydrates ever and by that I mean processed carbohydrates Bagels Donuts bread cake I wasn’t eating any of that I was only eating broccoli carrots cauliflower brussels sprouts those are my carbohydrates and when I moved over to that obviously it was a lot more fiber there my body had to adjust but I noticed I would get full really quick I just need a handful of broccoli and Brussels sprouts and I’d be good for hours and that led to upping the fat upping the protein to a point where I would only eat one time a day the rest of the day was intermittent fasting and as long as you’re doing a ketogenic diet I found that easy right I should say as long as I was doing for my experience a ketogenic diet that was simple I lost maybe 30 pounds in a couple months and felt really good about myself I feel like I’m using these push-ups maybe as a excuse or a crutch to get back into eating children’s cereal for breakfast and that paid the price right I have headaches I crash every day now I want coffee in the afternoon I’m irritable and I’ve kind of been blaming that back on the 50 push-ups oh I have extra testosterone in my system so I’m an irritable jerk really I mean you were working out before Dave why is it now just no it wasn’t the push-ups it’s not these push-ups it’s me eating junk food again that’s what made me backslide into the afternoon crash right wanting more sugar that’s the problem with sugar it’s not necessarily that sugar is bad for you it really is but once you start eating it you crave it you want more because it’s that short-term burst of energy your insulin just gets jacked up and then all of a sudden you’re hungry again
so more to come on that I think I’m going to start writing more about health benefits because I’ve been doing a lot of research listening to a lot of very smart people on podcasts reading some books and really trying to get a handle on this whole Health thing and I don’t think that there’s any one thing that’s going to solve it for everyone I really don’t believe that ketogenic might not work for everyone I didn’t see really good results with that and I’d like to get back into that so that’s just something that’s on my plate moving forward okay I’m gonna do the breath work now I probably kind of already did it talking to you right now and right next uh right next next up you’re going to see me doing set two of push-ups and then if you want to hang around after that you can watch me do my breath work because what’s more exciting than Improvement day of doing breath work
Set 2
This is Improvement Dave I’m David Kolmer and I’m going to do another 25 push-ups probably just saw set one right I just finished set one I was a little bit hurried a little bit flustered trying tand o figure out my technique and then I did a whole lot of talking after that I did some breath work which you can watch after this video segment and see how I’m trying to get into a better perspective better approach through breath work and meditation
going to continue to use the advice on how to do push-ups better
20 six 27. 40. 43. oh we’re ready nice
[Music]
50 all right that was 50. and I feel like it’s the best quality I’ve ever done so I’m really happy with that not going to say I’m not proud I’m pretty proud right now As I mentioned I waited 23 days to actually research how to do push-ups I’ve been doing them for 23 days now and I’m finally reading up wait maybe I’m doing them wrong and I and I was and that’s fine I was breathing wrong right so yeah breathe in on the way down breathe out on the way up keep your hands kind of close to you I don’t think I had my hands in the wrong spot or my feet I was trying to keep my body as straight as possible but something else I read I found a really good blog or post for boxers they’re like all boxers do push-ups all the time because it’s a really good way to keep your up your up Ear upper body strength going but not really a good way to add extra muscle so I found that to be really interesting I was thinking aren’t these push-ups getting much easier like why don’t I really feel like
your day-to-day they stated that you don’t really gain much muscle from just doing push-ups if you want to do that you got to hit the gym well I kind of stopped hitting the gym when I did this because it was just wearing me out I didn’t feel like I was you know able to do the gym and this so with that in mind I might start doing my my what is it the five four hour body for our body I think that’s it yeah the guy who wrote the the four hour work week he also wrote the four hour body and think of his name right now Dan Harris I just had to ask my subconscious and there it came Dan Harris wrote this book and he has really good calisthenics either way either way I’m gonna get back into that I’m also going to start going back to the gym and we’ll see if I can build up the muscle mass to get back up to 50 quality push-ups I say get back up to to actually be able to do 50 quality push-ups and what I would call a single set all right this is David Comer with Improvement Dave thanks so much I am Improvement Dave and this is David Comer I need to get a rhythm for that don’t I don’t have a plug yet but these are kind of preparation videos if you haven’t noticed right I’m still getting my microphone together I’m still kind of I don’t have a logo really for real but I’m using my old logo from when I was a painter I still paint but not not like I like to and now I’m rambling so if you’d like to stay tuned watch some of the breath work I definitely encourage you to do so thanks so much for watching
don’t wanna leave without having my cup right you need this coffee cup

Preparation – Breath Work
All right so taking some time uh five minutes to be specific to intentionally do some breath work in an intentional manner using a lot of meditation verbiage here just to allude to the fact that actually, this is a form of meditation I was running away from that before so I’m trying to embrace that now and just say yeah I meditate
not as much as I’d like and I’m not where I’d like to be on it but that’s I think that’s the whole point It’s like learning how to play golf OR garden an acre of land which I’m pointing to my yard I can show you that in a minute it just never ends there’s always room for improvement you just have to take that first step to what choose to improve yeah that’s a good plug I like that all right here we go
so I do a four-count in I hold for four and then exhale for four and then when that becomes comfortable I raise the count so I can count here with my hands so you kind of know what I’m doing and therefore I don’t have to talk while I’m doing the active breath
all right so that was about five minutes I do like using the microwave as a timer because then when it’s done it just turns off whereas um my laptop just beeps indefinitely I also don’t like the sound of the Google online timer because it’s obnoxious so take that to your algorithm Google I hope you find the transcript that I’m now adding to this blog and notating that a little bit your alarm is very obnoxious so I understand that you probably won’t get anything out of just watching me do my breath work or just viewing some improvement Dave online guy meditating or doing his breath work in between sets of push-ups but what I hope you might get out of it is the idea you might notice that I have better things to say or I even say them better after the breath work and that might inspire you to give it a shot and it’s not rocket science you sit down you take some deep breaths if you have a thought you say oh I have a thought and then let it go down the river send it off it goes down the stream it’s not complicated it is time consuming it does take time right and I think you don’t understand the value of it unless you’ve done it so there’s kind of a catch-22 there and a lot of people think that they’ve tried to do it but then didn’t do it but if you’ve tried to do it you’ve done it
it’s that simple I was listening to a podcast 10 happier Dan Harris I believe I probably got butchered his name I’m really bad with names I’m going to own that and he was interviewing a local Democratic senator who just lost how to how to fail with Grace was the title of the podcast if you want to look it up and something really resonated with me they said well you know I have these thoughts that I’ve tried to meditate and I don’t know how to meditate and the reaction from the other person was well that’s that’s a sign that you meditate no serious meditator is going to never have had the thought that I can’t meditate I don’t know what I’m doing there’s a lot of stigma around it right but it’s a lot easier than we think it’s just about taking some deep breaths and being present and if you have a thought you let it go down the flow just don’t hold on to the thought and it’s that action or actually you could say that inaction that empowers you then to accept what’s happening react to it honestly and find a nice calm passive way to work with it it’s not reactionary it’s not this happened we’re in crisis mode Let’s yell at the kids which happens and I’m not proud of it but if we can find a calm way to approach our life and approach it with gratitude humbleness acceptance then every time we reach a better outcome every time
Okay now this is just a quick test I’m going to tap the phone a little bit [Music] tap the phone on the other side and now I’m going to tap the mic tapping the mic so I just kind of want to test here that the mic is actually working….
I’m Doing more than 1,550 Pushups for St. Jude – Please donate to my fundraiser!
I am doing 50 pushups a day for August 2023. My goal is to do 50 pushups in a single set. So far I have made it to what I call the faux 50, where technically I do 50 pushups without resting but my form is sub-par. Today I backpedaled and did two higher-quality sets of 25 pushups, for only 50 quality pushups in total! I think this is the best approach overall to be able to do a real set of 50 by the end of August.
I did a 5-minute breath work session between the two sets and that is available to view after the two sets of pushups.
Then after that, I share my experience of leaving first thing in the morning to buy a water heater before my household wakes up and then installing the water heater with my dad at our rental property.

morning it’s 6 30 in the morning this is David Comer for improvement Dave arriving in the morning it’s to buy a water heater and then hopefully he can get take some time off work and get that put in so my tenant has hot water also I recently heard in a song silence brings the greatest creativity I think a lot of times in our world we’re so focused on doing the thing or getting ahead or becoming something greater we don’t realize that just doing nothing is actually sometimes what we really need to just empty ourselves calm down
find some stasis
hello this is David Comer with Improvement Dave day 21 of my 50 push-up a day challenge for Saint Jude Research Hospital so we had a water heater go out so I put in a water heater today it took about eight hours of cutting copper and working with black iron pipe and then I got to carry a 40 gallon water heater up a flight of stairs so I really felt that in my back today so we’re going to see how the push-ups go I’m feeling pretty totaled actually already and I haven’t even started so set number one
eight ten eleven twelve thirteen fourteen fifteen 17 18 I think
34. oh it’s 34-25 very difficult
that hurts it’s a good pain right here he’s feeling today the back actually wasn’t as bad which is ironic because the back really hurt when I was pulling that 40-gallon tank up very short carpeted stairs with a two-wheel dolly
Right set two this set is standing between me and some fresh beef tacos I wanted to point that out I gotta get through this and keep it moving so I can regain some muscle mass by eating some cows that are seasoned with taco seasoning and I might add some extra oregano just because that’s how I roll and I’ll probably add some hot sauce and I got these tortillas made out of almonds they’re actually really good they’re really good I got them from Costco it’s where I get most of my things [Music] all right except for this shirt I got this shirt for free from St Jude because they’re awesome all right here we go step two
three
Oh five six seven eight [Music] one two three two fourteen fifteen Seventeen eighteen oh do it for the tacos man do it for the tacos Taco Time Monday Taco Monday could be one because I think I lost count all right [Applause] my name is David Comer and this is Improvement Dave thank you so much for watching up next you can see some footage of me doing some preparation in between sets I do some heavy breathing a little bit of the coffee grinder move it’s good stuff all right see you next time thanks so much for tuning in and take her easy
This is a preparation I do in between sets just some simple breathe breathing I was going to say breath work but then I almost said breathing work
Sometimes I find the second set is actually easier than the first set because I’ve done this as preparation and it’s ironic because I’ve already done 25 push-ups.s Why is another 25 push-ups easier it says a lot about the benefits of just simple breath work also I recently heard in a song silence brings the greatest creativity right I think a lot of times in our world we’re so focused on doing the thing or getting ahead or becoming something greater we don’t realize that just doing nothing is actually sometimes what we really need is to just empty ourselves calm down
find some stasis my name is David Comer this is Improvement Dave thank you so much for tuning in if you want to watch a little bit more I have a little bit of video and footage of me purchasing a water heater at Menards
morning it’s 6:30 in the morning This is David Kolmer for improvement Dave out here making the hustle out of water heater fail at a rental property we’re out here driving in the morning at six in the morning 6 29 to buy a water heater and then hopefully he can get taking some time off work and get that and put in so my tenant has hot water number 10 doesn’t seem overly concerned that there’s no hot water I mean it’s really hot out right now and they have a friend nearby or maybe family and they can go take showers but I’d much rather just get this taken care of the real issue is that the igniter doesn’t work on the water heater so you just can’t get it started we could replace the igniter but the water heater is nearly 20 years old it’s just under 20 years old so it’s pretty much the lifespan of the water heater and point we’re thinking let’s just get a new one so let’s do this let’s get out there let’s get that Hustle Hustle
thank you
This is David Kolmer for improvement Dave making it happen making it happen for the hustle

I am doing 50 pushups a day for August 2023. My goal is to do 50 pushups in a single set. So far I have made it to what I call the faux 50, where technically I do 50 pushups without resting but my form is sub-par. I pushed myself very hard to get up to 50 pushups in a “single set” but I paused a lot during that set. So much so that it probably wasn’t really a set. Today I repeated what I did yesterday and did two higher-quality sets of 25 pushups, for only 50 quality pushups in total! I think this is the best approach overall to be able to do a real set of 50 by the end of August.
However, when you watch set two you notice that when I thought I was recording I was not, and when I meant to stop the recording I am talking to my daughter about eating dinner. Oh, well. I follow through with footage of me purchasing and laying down 3,500 pounds (lbs US) of river rock. It used to be difficult for me to throw this rock but now I found it kind of fun. I guess that is one of the benefits of doing 50 pushups a day.

So far I have made it to what I call the faux 50, where technically I do 50 pushups without resting but my form is sub-par. Last night I updated yesterday’s post to include pictures of completing the offload of 6,000 pounds (lbs US) of wet soil into my yard.
This morning I made it back out to the local composting site to get 2 yards of natural cut mulch. I plan to throw that down this afternoon, but that is only 800 to 1,000 pounds (lbs US)

I am doing 50 pushups a day for August 2023. My goal is to do 50 pushups in a single set. Today I repeated the goal of 50 pushups in a single set, but took it down to 55 pushups in total! I stated in the video that I took the total down to 55 today so I could go shovel 2 square yards of dirt into my yard, but when I got to the composting site their loader was down. I will do that first thing in the morning.
I made a joke yesterday about getting to 55 pushups. I spent 7 years teaching in Thailand and one thing I learned is that when people text they don’t type HAHAHA they type 555+ because the number 5 is pronounced HA! So I speak some Thai at the end of this video thanking my viewers and asking for donations. LOL!
I have now promised two times that I am reducing my pushup count because I am getting 2 yards (~5,000 lbs to 6,000 lbs) of soil and throwing it in my yard. So, today I did that and wanted to include that experience in my video to hold myself accountable. The woman told me she would not load the dirt into my trailer because it had rained two days ago. I asked her to do it anyway and she said no. She suggested I drive “20 minutes south” to the other location, but that location is more than 20 minutes away.
Then I drove away and went and looked at the dirt which was not that wet because it rained just a bit two days ago. I went back and nicely asked her to just load me anyway and she said no again. Then the loader in the shipping container office said, “I’ll load him if he wants.” I said, “Yes that is what I want.” This is not what I would call great customer service, but at least they loaded me in the end. I had not seen her before so I would guess she is new.
At the end of the video, I have a helper shoveling the dirt with me.
We got it done by the end of the day, but we ran out of time for our sister to do My Little Pony Yoga with Cosmic Kids Yoga. Promises were made to do that yoga session over the weekend.

I couldn’t remember if today was Day 14 or Day 15, but in my defense, I recorded Day 13 yesterday but then posted it this morning, so I could spend time with my family on Sunday.
